About
“What’s your journey?”
This is the page where I am supposed to tell you, the inquisitive visitor, a little about myself. I confess, I’m not good at self-disclosure. Perhaps a story will help: A few years ago I was at a gallery showing of my work alongside some other, very talented, photographers. A lady, an artist whom I respect, came up to me and observing one of my prints on the wall she demanded, “Tell me about your journey!” I mumbled something about color and disappearing lines. She was asking about me and my creative process. Something inner: struggle, angst or joy. I went to composition and technical stuff. It was a good question. Next time I will be prepared. “I came. I saw. I clicked!” I’ll say. (There will be polite dissatisfaction all around.)
My name is Tim Hull. Born and raised in Yakima, I have developed a special appreciation for the Pacific Northwest and in particular the Yakima River watershed and its many tributaries. Many years ago I dreamed of cataloging the rich diversity of the individual valleys that make up the Yakima Valley – hence the name of my original website, now a gallery. Even though I started in high school with a small 35 mm rangefinder camera, digital technology has given me the tools to realize my dream. I specialize in landscapes, city-scapes and candids in color and black and white.
I have posted my best work on this website for your enjoyment. More than that I hope you make a connection with one of my images. Something inner. A memory. A feeling.
Or even a journey.
